Ferro silicon is used as a source of silicon to reduce metals from their oxides and to deoxidize steel and other ferro alloys. Ferro silicon is also used for manufacture of silicon, corrosion-resistant and high-temperature resistant ferrous silicon alloys, and silicon steel for electromotors and transformer cores. There are many practical applications of Ferro Silicon to include carbon steel and stainless steel production, and when using the Pidgeon process to produce magnesium from dolomite.
1.Ferrosilicon is often used as deoxidizer in steel- making. Ferrosilicon also can
be used as alloy elements join agent,which is widely used in low alloy steel, non-ferrousmetal, bearing steel, heat-resistant steels and electrician silicon-steel.
2. It can be used as a reductant in ferroalloy production and chemical industry.
3. In iron industry it can be used as inoculant and nodulizer.
