Introduction to Ferro chrome
Ferro chrome(FeCr) is an iron alloy composed of chromium and iron.It is an important alloy additive for steelmaking.
According to different carbon content,ferro chrome can be divided into high-carbon ferrochrome,low-carbon ferrochrom,
micro-carbon ferrochrome.The lower the carbon content of ferrochrome, the more difficult it is to smelt, the higher the power consumption, and the higherthe cost. Ferrochrome with a carbon content of less than 2% is suitable for smelting stainless steel, acid-resistant steel andother low-carbon chromium steels. Ferrochrome with a carbon content of more than 4% is commonly used to make ball bearing steeland steel for auto parts.
Uses of Ferro chrome

(1) In the metallurgical industry, chromite is mainly used to produce ferrochrome alloys and metallic chromium. a Ferrochromium alloy is used as an additive to steel to produce a variety of special steels with high strength, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, high temperature resistance, and oxidation resistance, such as stainless steel, acid-resistant steel, heat-resistant steel, ball bearing steel, spring steel, tool steel, etc. b Metal chromium is mainly used to smelt special alloys with elements such as cobalt, nickel, and tungsten. These special steels and special alloys are indispensable materials for the production of guns, missiles, rockets, ships, etc. in the aviation, aerospace, automobile, shipbuilding, and defense industries.
(2) Among refractory materials, chromite is used to make chrome bricks, chrome magnesia bricks and other special refractory materials.
(3) In the chemical industry, it is mainly used to produce sodium dichromate and then prepare other chromium compounds for use in pigments, textiles, electroplating, tanning and other industries.
